Warrnambool Cheese and Butter takeover

Your pest writes again for your kind advice, I may be jumping the gun as I’ve seen no prospectus yet. I’d appreciate your comments on the coming float. I did OK out of Warrnambool Cheese and Butter takeover recently and am a little apprehensive that my thoughts may be swayed by that little success (the bait is the cheese, may be a trap for a mouse investor).

One concern is that I understand voting power will be only in the hands of the existing milk suppliers and shareholders and a clash of interests could arise. Your early comment or advice will be greatly appreciated.

BetaShares ETF

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply to my question about a Nasdaq ETF on the ASX.

I wasn’t aware of the BetaShares NDQ.AX. Given this ETF  has only just been made available, I’m wondering what risks are involved with investing in newly released ETFs such as this one?

Investment property

Appreciate your views on the following:

1. If I have capital gains on an investment property, can I offset it with capital losses from the sale of ASX-listed shares?

2. I have Telstra (TLS) shares in the joint names of my wife and myself. Because of our different tax positions, we are thinking of spltting them into our individual names. If I do an off-market share transfer to to achieve this, do we have to pay tax on them?

Grexit

Given the Grexit and ECB money printing, the Aussie is probably at it’s highest, relative to the Euro for the moment.

Any ideas how to diversify a portfolio slightly to take advantage of this arbitrage?
