Can you please clarify if the changes to the pension after Jan 1st, 2015 relates to your pension taken from your SMSF, or from the Commonwealth Government.

My husband and I are both under 65 years of age.

Austal and defence

With all of the terror spending by the Government and the build up of it’s defence assets, it got me thinking about Austal building ships for the US navy – the income will be in US dollars.

What are the experts thoughts on the stock as a medium to long term view?

It has had a bit of a rocky ride in the charts but appears to be kicking some goals in the US.

AMP outlook

You answered a question re: AMP in January this year.

Are your thoughts still the same, or do you now see a brighter future for the stock?

Banks and volatility

The banking sector has been said by some to experience greater volatility going forward.

The Financial Inquiry will report higher capital ratio requirements for the banks when they meet next.

US shares in ETFs

If our super fund bought into an ETF which owns only US shares, I understand that US withholding tax of 30%, or, possibly 15%, would be deducted from distributions.

My fund is in pension phase and doesn’t pay Aussie tax so would I get a refund of the US withholding tax?
