Sentinel is a well-regarded property fund manager. Sentinel has a number of unlisted funds – so you will need to be more specific about your colleague’s experience.
The main downside with investing in unlisted funds is liquidity – what is the exit strategy for the fund, and how likely is this to be achieved? Also, consider carefully the underlying asset. For example, what are the long term growth prospects (ie higher rents) for regional shopping centres?
