Thanks for the article on refreshing a SMSF Pension. As I understand it, the rules for how much of a pension is counted towards income for Seniors Health Care Card and maybe pension deeming are changing on 1/1/15.
It seems any pension started after that date has higher nominal income for these purposes.
Accordingly, would it be best to NOT refresh a pension after that date thus causing higher nominal income for these purposes or will refreshing a pension not affect these calculations?
A: Yes refreshing a pension after December 2014 will have CSHC income assessment implications assuming you’re eligible for that Card.
The reader who asked this question did not ask about this aspect hence the reason it was not discussed.
