I hadn’t thought much about gold – perhaps because I am a long term gold bear and I don’t much like investments that don’t pay an income return.

As for being the best inter-generational asset – I would be interested in seeing any research you have to support the statement.

I think the other question you also need to consider with a physical asset like gold, is holding costs.
