Fund managers

I’m considering investing in some “all weather” fund managers, as it seems individual stocks for the average ‘punter’ is just too hard.

After buying Telstra, the sure thing that all the brokers liked, it has dropped on me. And thats just one, not to mention Slater and Gordon.

I realise it is too much of a gamble for me especially when the shorters are at play. My funds in blue chip stocks would have had better value in the banks.

I am thinking Magellan, Henderson, etc. I have Platinum Asset Management and it is doing OK for me. What do you think and do you have any suggestions?

A: The managers you have mentioned are all offshore managers with good track records – what are you thinking about for your Australian equities?

If you don’t want to invest yourself locally, maybe a broad based listed investment company such as Milton Corporation (MLT). If you want a passive approach, consider the ETFs – probably STW or VAS.
