Ethical based investing

I have not seen any articles on ethical based investing for investors.

It came to my attention with Charlie Aitken’s recent report on WOW.

Unfortunately, I won’t buy the stock because of its ownership of thousands of poker machines.

I know Charlie Aitken has also written a number of articles in support of Crown.

Do you think there is a place for ethics based investing, or should it be ignored in favour of returns to shareholders?

If you have any personal experiences to share it would be much appreciated.

A: Thanks for the comments about ethical investing.

I think there is definitely a place for it – and according to some reports I have seen, many of the ethical style funds boast strong performance figures.

One of the challenges is to agree what is “ethical”  – different investors have different ideas about this.

In relation to the funds available in Australia, we might do a deeper dive on these and see just how well they perform compared to the normal funds.
