Changing to a trauma policy

About 3 years ago when my husband passed away suddenly I panicked about what I’d do alone if anything happened to me, and I couldn’t repay our mortgages.

I’m 55 now, I have a policy with Macquarie that has life, TPD and trauma together – but it is costing a fortune.

How do I change to a trauma policy only, without losing the benefit of age 3 years ago, when I took the policy out with level premiums?

A: You can only do this if Macquarie are prepared to begin a new policy without underwriting.

Given the time past and your age they're unlikely to agree.

But if you don't ask, you don't get and the worst they can say is no.

So my suggestion is you ask them and see how they respond.
