Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Tuesday, Jan 13:

AGG – ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI – up 14 cents, or 6.2 per cent, at $2.40

EVN – EVOLUTION MINING – up 3.5 cents, or 4.4 per cent, at 83.5 cents

NCM – NEWCREST MINING – up 30 cents, or 2.5 per cent, at $12.48

Prices for gold continue to rise, as worries over the effects of falling oil prices on global economic health push investors into the precious metal.

CDD – CARDNO – down 53 cents, or 15.5 per cent, at $2.90

Cardno chief executive Michael Renshaw has quit the infrastructure development firm after just 10 months in the job.

FXJ – FAIRFAX MEDIA – up one cents, or 1.2, at 88 cents

Fairfax will pay $72 million to buy the remaining 50 per cent of Victoria-based Metro Media Publishing Holdings as it looks to expand its digital property business.

WPL – WOODSIDE PETROLEUM – down 70 cents, or 1.9 per cent, at $36.35

Woodside Petroleum has agreed to work with Indian conglomerate Adani Enterprises to look for new LNG projects.
