Downer EDI Ltd is reviewing its general consultancy practices in Asia, Australia and New Zealand perhaps leading to divesting the businesses.

Downer said it was reviewing CPG Asia, CPG Australia and CPG New Zealand as part of a process of optimising the company.

Chief executive Grant Fenn said Downer had been approached by parties interested in buying the businesses.

“Because these firms operate relatively independently of the other divisions, we have decided to consider the divestment option,” Mr Fenn said in a statement on Wednesday.

Downer’s other businesses include train manufacturing and mining and civil engineering services.
