The Australian share market has closed higher, buoyed by gains among resources stocks.

At the close on Friday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was 23.3 points, or 0.5 per cent higher at 4,671.3, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 23.9 points, or 0.51 per cent, at 4,685.3.

On the ASX 24, the December share price index futures contract was 23 points higher at 4,651, with 15,462 contracts traded.
