Earnings Forecast

I am a new subscriber to Switzer. In the article – Buy Sell Hold – what the brokers say, there is a table that shows positive and negative changes covered by more than 2 brokers, the New EF and Previous EF – what does the EF stand for?

Regards

A: Thanks for the question.

The tables from FN Arena refer to ‘earnings forecasts’ (EF).  These are earnings forecasts on a cents per share basis.

New EF is the broker consensus EPS, previous EF is the previous consensus EPS.

FN Arena only compile this table for stocks that are covered by multiple brokers.

When brokers review stocks, sometimes they upgrade or downgrade their recommendations and target prices. Often, though, it is just a slight change to their EPS forecast – this is what the table is showing.
